Imagine dropping a house packed with explosives on an enemy and you’ll start coming close to the destructive power of this unit.

This weapon fires bombardments but it only gets 1 chance to range in on the enemy. Should you hit though any infantry or unarmoured vehicles caught in the blast is killed outright on a 5+ with no chance to save. If a tank is unlucky enough to be caught there it is hit with an AT6 hit to its top armour.

They can use their 8 gun rule to completely destroy enemy positions and force any opponent to be wary about digging in for an extended period of time. With these guns as a backbone, this Afrika infantry list is tough as nails.

HQ 30 points

Rifle Platoon I 190 points

3 rifle/mg squads

light mortar team

PIAT team

Rifle Platoon II 190 points

Machinegun Platoon I 155 points

Tank Platoon I 240 points

1 Matilda II

2 Matilda II CS

Field Battery, Royal Artillery 445 points

4 gun sections

This army takes those 8 guns, and gives them enough firepower to protect them. The HMG teams will put up a fierce volly of fire against any enemy that gets close. The Tank platoon is there to support the infantry with smoke, This lets the artillery focus on killing things rather than blinding them.

You have enough anti tank between the piats, anti tank platoon and the tanks to put up a good fight, and they are spread across a variety of troop types. This means that even if your opponent can take out all your tanks easily, it isn’t going to cripple you since you have AT in other places as well.

This is a pretty basic army with no bells or whistles and can be used as a great starting point for a british infantry force.

Cheap to field, Easy to kill with some devastating weapons, if they hit. When playing a Strelkovy army you expect a good number of your troops to be killed before you even engage the enemy. The good thing is you have so many troops that your strategy revolves around screening with infantry, hoping to keep your weapons moving up behind protected. This is a Mid War Ostfront Strelkovy army and is a great place to start if you are interested in an infantry force.

HQ 120 points

AA

Assault Gun Company 200 points

4x SU-76M

You are going to expect a lot of losses. This is why there is a full rifle team who’s sole reason for existing is to protect your rifle/MG mortar teams. Any of the Rifle squads that survive long enough will join in assaulting your opponent. To deal with tanks from long range you get the full squad of assault guns and if you get your command HQ into assault range, the AT guns are there to punch holes in side armour.

The flamethrower unit is there to deal with deeply entrenched infantry and heavily armoured tanks. You need to keep these guys alive as long as possible as they will cause tremendous damage in close.

No Soviet force would be complete without rocket support. This unit will cause a tremendous amount of damage to your opponent forcing them to either keep on the move or face bombardment. You could change this unit for standard artillery, but nothing says Soviets like rockets do.

Take your losses strategically, swarm the enemy and overwhelm them at short range where your numbers will prevail. With soviets it is all or nothing and this army takes that approach with all but one platoon at full strength.

The Panther tank is a devastatingly powerful piece of armour. This list is a 1943 Panzer Platoon built to punch giant holes in your opponent. This is a 1750 point list as it is difficult to play a game with panther tanks and have any other units on the table if you play with fewer points.

HQ 355 points

3 StuG G

Tank Platoon II 730 points

3 Panther D

Mobile Artillery Battery 130 points

1 section

There is very little to say about this list. It will hit extremely hard, The artillery is thrown in for smoke screens (keeping your opponents 13 antitank rating guns smoked will keep your panthers alive). Go after one target, hit it with everything you’ve got, do it as quickly as you can so you minimise your own losses. an extremely brutal list, your opponent will see you coming and there will be very little they can do about it.

Be careful of side shots, this is the weakness of this list. It is weak to ambushes as well, if you find that you are getting ambushed a lot, you may want to add in a recon unit in place of the artillery. It all depends if you’re going to be facing ambushes or really big immobile guns.

It is a jack of all trades tank with decent armour, a decent main gun and lots of machine guns. This last point makes it just as versatile engaging infantry as it is at taking out enemy armour. This is a sample 1500 point army list from Afrika for the mid war period.

Artillery Section 170 points (should be replaced by mobile artillery + recon unit)

Tank Destroyer Section 160 points

This list will hit hard and fast. The 2 Sherman tank platoons are the main attack force, backed up by the tank destroyers. The Shermans will push through the enemy lines while the tank destroyers with their reach can take out dug in anti tank weapons. Should your opponent be fielding some heavily armoured tanks, the tank destroyers are more than up to the task of taking these guys out.

The artillery is there to make your opponent think twice about sitting in one place for too long. If they do, hit them with your guns hard. This is also useful for smoke bombardments to give a screen for your tanks. It might be a better choice to field some mobile mortars for smoke and a recon unit as suggested below. This gives you the ability to remove gone to the ground from infantry as well as providing smoke. A much better use of the 170 points taken up by the artillery.

The M5 stewart platoon is there for flanking purposes. If your opponent has some long range weaponry that you need to deal with or there is a secondary target you want to go after, the M5 Stewarts have the speed to get there. You can even use them to support your main tanks, bringing them up a flank for the all important side shots.

As suggested the artillery may not be the greatest selection for this list as they are fairly immobile and having a recon unit is very beneficial vs ambushes and removing gone to the ground. In this case some mobile mortars + a recon unit might be a better selection over the artillery piece.
