There is an intelligence briefing out that covers the German Pioneer Kompanie. If you want to play a late war engineer based force that can easily dig in when the going gets tough then this is a force you should definitely consider. It is essentially an infantry company but it replaces the standard infantry with pioneer squads.

The British have fantastic artillery. They can use their 8 gun rule to completely destroy enemy positions and force any opponent to be wary about digging in for an extended period of time. With these guns as a backbone, this Afrika infantry list is tough as nails.

There are some new releases out now for flames of war. Zac over at tabletop gaming news got the lowdown on the new units. The first is the German mortar platoon for the late war period they use the 8cm Granatwerfer 34 Mortar. Sure to put a dent in any opponent. Next up we have the Pak 40 auf RSO tank hunters with awesome firepower, sure to take out the soviet T-34’s with ease.
On the soviet side we see the IS-2. This is one beast of a tank, there is very little that will be able to hurt this guy. That’s not all because the t-34 85mm is also available. You can now punch nice 85mm holes in the german panzer IV’s with ease. The Soviets also have a new sapper platoon which gives them serious de-mining and anti fortification abilities in addition to their fearsome Molotov and improvised explosives.
These releases should make all the Eastern front late war players really happy. I know I’ll be adding the soviet tanks to my collection.
